Mouse horses are amazingly colored animals that cannot fail to attract with their interesting exterior. This color does not affect the physical characteristics and nature of the horses, but makes them recognizable. Many breeders appreciate such breeds where individuals with exactly the same color are found.
History of the suit
It is believed that the suit of horses has come from ancient times. Aboriginal breeds that gave rise to this color of animals became the progenitors. Micey horses are dominated by an ashy ash shade of hair. Typically, such individuals are characterized by dark limbs, tail and mane of dark shades.
It is difficult to accurately determine the time of occurrence and the area of origin of the muscle horses, but one thing is known - the ancestors of horses with this color are the horses of Tarpan, once exterminated by people.
Historians and experienced breeders are convinced that if wild horses of the Tarpan breed had not once existed, then there would never have been robust horses.
Description and specifications
Animals with a mousey color are often called horses with a blue color. More precisely, individuals predominate ashen, more smoky. When the sun's rays fall on the horse's hair, they shimmer with blue. In the light, these noble animals look simply delightful and at the same time mysterious.
Typically, for horses with such a color, a characteristic “belt” of black color runs along the ridge. Many individuals differ in the head of a dark shade. Sometimes in horses the “wild” gene of ancestors appears, as evidenced by the zebroid color on the limbs.
A feature of horses is the immutability of the suit, even with age. The reason is still hiding in the “special” gene transmitted from the ancestors. In the absence of this gene in horses, their color is more like a black one.
Usually, any apprentice dies over time, due to which the original shade is lost. But it does not threaten the meaty horses. The only thing to expect is a darkening or brightening of the shade. Especially in winter, the color of the horses becomes slightly silver with overflows of blueness. In summer, a slight yellowness may appear on the hairs of animals, which gives only greater mystery and makes the suit unique in its own way.
Unusual muscle horses are rare recently. The reason for this is wild origin, and in the modern world it is a kind of exotic. Today, the mouse-like color is found in several breeds of horses, in each of which there are “wild genes”.
The effect of color on horse health
According to many breeders, the suit does not have any effect on the physical endurance and character traits of the horse. Color has nothing to do with the ability to work and activity of the animal. But some patterns are still observed. For example, gray horses are not happy with buckwheat straw, because often they suffer from a rash and other allergic reactions.
Varieties of suit
With the onset of puberty, the mouse horse changes only the texture of the hair, and the ashen shade remains the same. Based on such a characteristic as suit, several varieties of horses were revealed in nature.
Dark-muscular horses have black limbs, a mane, a tail and a “belt”. The rest of the body has a characteristic dark gray color.
These animals have a light gray torso. Occasionally, this color may cast a slightly dull white tint. The horses have a fully or partially dark head. The mane and tail can be both black and white. The “belt” on the ridge is dark gray.
Fly horses are rare. This breed is characterized by reddish shades of hair in the eyes, mouth, groin and buttocks. The combination of red and gray tones makes the breed not only recognizable, but also attractive. Even with age, such a color does not change, which can not be said about the dark and light, muscular horses.
Horses with a meaty (gray) color have an unusual appearance, which is why they stand out strongly from the herd. Usually local Yakut, Mongolian breeds prevail in this color. They predominated mouse color. This shade is also inherent in the artificially bred breed - Polish Konik.
The color of the skin, hair and iris depends on the hereditary trait. There are horses in which the mouse color is combined with additional suits:
- Bean suit. It is considered a rare color. Manifested in stallions after the first molt. It is formed only after three years - blotches of a red-brown hue are formed on gray wool. Such marks can be scattered in separate areas or throughout the body of the animal.
- Apple color. This color is characterized by bright spots located on the hairline of the body. Often, the appearance of spots is evidence that the animal has a hereditary gene that promotes the transmission of such a pattern to stallions that are born. Horses often have a white mane and tail. A similar color is inherent to the horses of the Oryol breed.
- Silver-Bulan suit. The silver shade of the stallions does not appear immediately, because initially this shade is simply called a shade. The individuals have front legs and a black tail. Often there are horses that have spots on the withers that resemble butterflies.
- Ermine suit. The horses have a lead shade of the body, and the tail and mane are dark in color.
Descended from wild ancestors. Horses are small in size. Characterized by strength and endurance. The breed was obtained by crossing ordinary peasant horses and wild Tarpanov. A distinctive characteristic of the breed is that in appearance the animals are similar to a wild ancestor. They have a mouse-gray color, a dark mane and tail, as well as a “belt” along the ridge of a dark shade.
The most common are bay, gray and muscley individuals. The horses of this breed are dominated by a dark head, tail and mane. On the back there is the same dark “belt”, legs are sometimes decorated with zebroid pattern.
Hutsul horses of short stature from 137 to 145 centimeters at the withers. Animals have strong hooves that do not need to be shod. The ancestors of the Hutsul horses are not only the wild Tarpan, but also the Hungarian and Mongolian horses.
The furry suit is often found in horses. These horses are distinguished by an attractive color, which has a number of notable features. Any micey horse is considered very beautiful, standing out from the rest of the representatives.
