Origin of tomato Solerosso
Homeland - Holland. The variety was created by scientists of the Nunems breeding company. The company specializes in the production of new varieties of plants, their sale and cultivation. Branches of the company are open in many countries where vegetable growing is developed.
Nunems company is one of the leading places among all breeding companies in the world, and to be more precise, the company is among the top five. A branch was also opened in the territory of the Russian Federation, a website in Russian was launched. Hybrid Solerosso passed a series of tests in Russia, and is registered in the state register as a variety that can be grown in all regions of the country.
Most often, the variety is grown for industrial purposes, since the main features of the hybrid are its compact appearance and the possibility of close proximity of plants to each other. Solerosso is also grown in small household territories, the fruits are eaten fresh, and various preserves are also prepared from them. During heat treatment, tomatoes do not lose their shape and taste.
Hybrid Solerosso differs in early ripening. The bush is compact, the branches are a little sprawling. On one hand, approximately 6 fruits are formed, located close to each other. It grows to a certain size (critical point) and stops growing.
The fruits of tomato Solerosso are small in size, the shape is flat-round. You can see a slight ribbing near the peduncle. The pulp is juicy, medium density. The peel is not thick, but reliable, thanks to it the tomatoes do not crack and perfectly tolerate transportation. The taste is sweet.
Ripening dates and productivity
Tomato boasts the formation of abundant ovaries, respectively, almost no empty flowers. Peduncles are large, during flowering, foliage is almost invisible, everything is strewn with flowers.
The variety is early, so after 3 months after planting seedlings it is already possible to collect fruits. One of the significant advantages is wave-ripening, that is, fruits can be harvested throughout the season. Tomatoes are stored for more than a month, have a presentable appearance and perfectly tolerate transportation.
Productivity is high - from 1 square. m you can get about 8-10 kg of fruit. The mass of one is 100 g.

For which regions is the variety suitable?
The plant is best grown in warm or temperate climates. But the bush can adapt to low temperatures and weather changes, so in the northern regions it can also be grown, the only condition is planting in a greenhouse or greenhouse.
Resistance to diseases and pests
Various wilts, bacterial and viral diseases of the variety are not terrible. The only threat is fungal diseases, for example, late blight. When growing plants without shelter, there is a risk of slugs appear on the bushes, attacks of the bear and aphids.
Advantages and disadvantages of the variety
The tomato variety Solerosso, like other crops, has its pros and cons, they must be taken into account when growing plants.
- compact bush;
- possible close placement of plants with each other;
- unpretentiousness to conditions;
- getting used to any climate and weather;
- high productivity;
- tasty and juicy fruits;
- strong immunity.
Cons of the variety:
- with illiterate care, productivity decreases;
- supports are needed;
- can not be grown in the northern regions on open soil.
Since the variety is hybrid, growing it directly from seeds at home is not recommended. In order to make the Solerosso harvest abundant and tasty, it is better to purchase ready-made seedlings in special stores where plants are necessarily treated for pests and diseases.
When growing seedlings yourself, you must take care of the tanks and soil in advance. You can use any pots as containers. Many opt for a large wooden box with holes at the bottom. First, seeds are sown in it, and then the grown sprouts are transplanted into separate cups.
You can immediately use peat pots. Place humus in them. The best time to sow seeds is the first week of March. First, the containers are treated with a growth stimulator, after which soil is poured.
Seeds must be processed before planting. First of all, select the best specimens, place them in a saline solution (10 g of salt per 250 ml of water). The good ones will stay down, and the bad ones will come up. Rinse high-quality grains under running water and place for a quarter of an hour in a weak solution of potassium permanganate.
After processing, their growth can be improved and placed on wet gauze for germination. Make sure that the grains do not dry out. Then squeeze the remaining water from the gauze and place in the refrigerator for 12 hours. After the specified time, remove the seeds - put in a warm place, repeat the process three times. Seeds are ready for planting.
Make small depressions in the soil and place seeds in them, move the containers to a place with a temperature of about +25 degrees Celsius. As soon as the sprouts begin to hatch, move them closer to the sunlight, if you do not have such a place, then make artificial lighting (at least 13 hours a day). You can use lamps for seedlings .
Water sprouts only with warm water, and use a spray bottle. More about how to sprout tomato seeds for seedlings is described here .
You can buy a substrate for pots in a store, if this is not possible, then mix in the same proportions: peat, humus and river sand. Add some wood ash to the finished mixture.
If you use separate pots for each plant, then picking is not necessary. If not, then the plants are planted separately from each other after the appearance of 2 leaves. Carry a lump of earth with the sprout, so that the root system is not injured.

Transplanting seedlings into the greenhouse
If you plant in open soil, then harden the sprouts, that is, take them every day to fresh air. If you plant in a greenhouse - you do not need to do this.
Land for landing has been prepared since the fall. The top layer is replaced, as spores of various diseases can live in it.
Tomatoes are not grown in one place for more than 2 years in a row.
The soil for growing is created from such parts: turf soil, peat, humus and river sand. The culture grows well on non-heavy nutrient lands. Breathability is mandatory.
The site is selected based on the climate and humidity of the earth. Relocate tomatoes outdoors in cloudy weather. Be sure to treat the sprouts with boric acid 14 days before the transplant. On the day of planting, make 0.12 m deepenings in the soil. Remove seedlings from the pots and place them in the soil. After planting, water.
In the open ground, so that the tomatoes do not die, the plants cover greenhouses from the fabric for the first 14 days. In the morning and afternoon, the plants are left in direct sunlight, and in the evening they are covered.
Rules for hardening seedlings before planting in open soil:
- take plants to the balcony for 2 weeks after transplantation;
- keep them there at a temperature of +16 degrees Celsius for 2 hours every day;
- gradually increase the time;
- After this procedure, the plants will gain strong immunity.
The predecessors of tomatoes in the selected area should be cucumbers, gourds and onions.
Planting seedlings in open ground is carried out only with full heating of the earth. Tomatoes are planted in recesses at a distance of 0.4 meters from each other, between the rows they maintain a gap of 0.5 m. After transferring the sprouts, be sure to pour them with settled water.
Features of cultivation and care
Care consists in the regular application of fertilizers and water. Plants of this variety do not need pinching. So that the fruits do not fall to the surface of the earth, they should be tied up.
With regular watering, Solerosso tomato brings a big crop. For tomato soil moisture should be 90%. If there is little water, the tops dry out, prolonged heat leads to the destruction of inflorescences and ovaries. But do not get carried away and overfill the bushes, with plenty of water they quickly pick up fungal ailments.
1 plant needs 3-5 liters of water.
The first time the tomatoes are watered immediately after transplanting into the soil, then the procedure is carried out 1 time per week. Plants need a lot of water during flowering. Water in the morning or in the evening, after watering, be sure to loosen the soil to enable the root system to fully absorb not only moisture, but also air.
With high-quality and constant fertilizers, the plant brings a stable crop. Mineral products and folk recipes are used as top dressing. The main trace elements are potassium and phosphorus. Phosphorus accelerates the metabolism in plants, ensures the normal development of fruits. Contribute in the form of superphosphate (10 g of water 40 g of the product).
Potassium is responsible for the taste, it is added as potassium sulfate (30 g per 10 l of water). Both top dressings are radical. During the flowering of the Solerosso hybrid, a weak solution of boric acid (1 g per 10 liters of water) is used.
As for folk methods, the best result is feeding the tomato with wood ash, you can simply add it to the ground or pour it with infusion based on it.
Protection against diseases and pests
Many gardeners claim that tomatoes of the Solerosos variety have strong immunity, so you do not need to be especially afraid of diseases. But in order to avoid even the slightest risk of ailments, it is necessary to observe a number of preventive measures:
- Perform timely watering of plants.
- Apply enough fertilizer.
- Ventilate the greenhouse to avoid excessive humidity.
In open soil, tomatoes are attacked by aphids, teddy bears and thrips, use special tools to get rid of them. For example, household soap and tobacco fights perfectly with aphids, and ammonia helps against slugs.
It is possible to determine the ripened fruits in appearance. Tomatoes acquire a rich red tint, monotony. They are not present various spots of a different color. Solerosso hybrid tomatoes ripen in batches, so you need to remove them from plants about 1 time in 4 days.
Tatyana, 34 years old, accountant, Rostov-on-Don.
My mother has been growing the Solerosso variety for the fourth year. The bush grows large and strong, I would not say that it is compact, the branches are too sprawling. Harvest Solerosso brings a good, there is never a problem with pollination. Landings are treated with agents from various pests. Especially sticky ones are slugs, but ammonia helps. With high-quality nutrition, the fruits reach 140 g.
Valeria, 57 years old, housewife, Odessa.
Tomato Solerosso acquired seedlings that year, fruits for preservation are excellent. Peerless salads and mashed potatoes are obtained. Flowering was so plentiful that the foliage was not visible. Not a stepson, and so the crop is good, from the 1st bush I collect about 8-9 kg.
Solerosso hybrids are suitable for growing for both personal and industrial purposes. They are characterized by early ripening, excellent taste and excellent yield. Cultivation does not require much attention, the main thing is to water and fertilize on time.
